Is recruiting overrated in college basketball?

Players like Derrick Williams of Arizona and Jimmer Fredette of BYU were not heavily recruited players and both went on to have success at the college level. Then you look at schools like Kentucky who usually have the top recruiting classes but never end up winning a national championship (Kentucky's run this year was quite impressive, though) and most of those recruits end up leaving when their freshman year is done. What are your thoughts?
