Summer reading project- thoughts on these two books?

Okay so I'm going into my freshman year and our class summer reading is based on self discovery, I've narrowed down my two choices to these two books, The Bog Child and The Secret Life Of Bees. If you have read them or one of them can you tell me if they were good and your thoughts? Thanks so much!
