Saving movies once converted for ipod viewing?

i have a couple dvd movies of mine that i used a program to convert them so that i could view them on my ipod touch, but since they are bogging down my memory on my computer i was wondering can i burn these movies to dvd (now that they are converted to mpg4) so that i can erase them from my computer's hard drive and then just reload them whenever i want onto my ipod?
