Celica dies out on take off.?

Yesterday I was about to take off and the car just sat there.Putting in the clutch would bring it back to life.It would not completely shut off.It just bogged out and sat there.Toyota says its probably in the v v t i or v v t l .They say throw away that motor and get a plain GT. This has happened several times in the last few months.It never shuts down.The car just has 94,000 miles on it.What gives?
